I have a volunteer looking for information (operating or installation instructions) on Hancock "non-lifting" Inspirator (aka injector) model H-NL.

These were used on some Union Pacific switchers. They are not plumbed like a common injector.

Thanks, Randy

I've got a Hancock book somewhere in the stacks - I'll see what I can find. My experience with Hancock nonlifters is that they are plumbed similarly to the Sellars version. Steam from the starting valve and water in towards the middle, overflow at the bottom, and delivery out the top end.

Good thing - my old book didn't have these modern varieties in it.

Here is some more information that includes maintenance instructions. The vertical style operating valve is a newer version, I believe. The maintenance and operating instructions apply to both types.

Is this for an operating locomotive or general knowledge? We run these in daily service on the Cumbres & Toltec.

A question for Russ Fischer:
I'm not familiar with the book or magazine that you posted the pages from. Could you tell me what it is, who the author and publisher are, and when it was written?

Thanks!

I'm not Russ, but I believe it's Fabian Kardes "Railway Locomotive Maintenance" (the editions I've seen are WWII wartime years)

Overmod is correct on the source. I have a complete copy dated 1943. The excerpts I posted were from a copy of just the chapter on injectors and check valves that was given to me years ago. I don't know the publication date of that one.
