Was in the Fox Lake area earlier today so took a short detour to take a look at the preserved Milwaukee Road depot there. There was a thread back in 2015 entitled "McHenry Railroad Loop Auction" pertaining to a Northern Pacific "return loop" preservation that was being auctioned off. A reference was made in that thread to a couple of other of these type loops including one in Fox Lake, Wisconsin. I'm not sure exactly if the moved-in depot there in McHenry, North Dakota sat on the site of the original depot but if it did, that loop was beyond the NP station. Not so the Fox Lake depot, which stood at the very top (or end) of the loop. Fortunately, that depot still survives (along with a short stretch of this curved loop trackage. As the photos attest, the depot is getting a new coat of paint, which made for some less-than-satisfactory photos. BUT, it's great that the local folks are still keeping their historic depot in excellent shape.
