The Indiana Northeastern Railroad has restored an out of-service EMD GP9 to service. This particular hood unit is historic in that it was originally built and worked for the Cleveland Union Terminal as their number 5903. Although the unit was painted in the "normal" lightning stripe paint scheme of parent New York Central, the unit carried full Cleveland Union Terminal lettering across its hood. Later the unit became Conrail #7303, shown here in Ft. Wayne:

The unit eventually was sold to the Hillsdale County Railroad where it was renumbered as HCRC #1603. Eventually the unit ended up working for the Indiana Northeastern, carrying that same 1603. The unit eventually had engine problems and was set aside. However, the INE's shop crew eventually restored the Geep to service and also received permission to restore its original CUT number. Here's a photo from last month:

The unit was built by EMD in 4/54 under c/n 19524, It is believed that this is the only surviving piece of equipment from the Cleveland Union Terminal.
