I'm looking for an example of a Russel skeleton log car. Do any of you know if (where) one of these still exists?

I can't be positive but I believe there are three or four Russel log cars at the Cradle of Forestry near Brevard, NC.

One link led to another, and the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum appears to have a pretty complete shay that they store indoors but move outside for events. It does not appear that they steam the shay. How do they move it?

Just to point out what should be obvious already:

You'll get more results by spelling it properly as "Russell" when you search.

DJSullivan's spelling of Russel is correct however, an incorrect spelling may produce more results. Only saying this because I have a Russel Wheel and Foundry mine car and I tried to find more info.

My bad: I assumed the cars had been assembled by the Russell Car & Snow Plow Company of Ridgway, Pa.--which seems to be a somewhat understandable presumption......

The White Mountain Central (Lincoln, NH) has quite a string of operable standard guage logging disconnects. I bekieve most (or all) are off the East Branch & Lincoln. Are they Russels? Not sure. Worth a look.

There is a single Russel Model 55 disconnected log truck at Snoqualmie, WA.

There are a pair of these under a camp car at the Polson Museum in Hoquiam, WA. Log cars of any type are much rarer than locomotives.

Interesting knuckle modification to the couplers. Sharon couplers perhaps? Had not noticed this modification on any equipment prior to these photos. Anyone care to comment? Perhaps in a separate thread?
