Post subject:  Freight train on the Strasburg Rail Road Wednesday

This Wednesday (8/23/17), Norfolk Southern is scheduled to deliver as many as fourteen loaded freight cars to our interchange. Since NS has been better at delivering in the morning, and since #475 will be steamed up for passenger service that day, we are planning to run a morning-time steam freight. The train will depart East Strasburg Yard at 8:00 am. Our #8618 will on point pulling the train back to East Strasburg, with #475 in snapper service. Our caboose #12 will be positioned behind the #475 in order that passengers might hear the engine working up the hill.
Seating will be very limited on this train, with seating aboard the caboose on a first come, first served basis. Seating capacity of caboose #12 is only about 12 seats. The fare will be $15 cash paid to the conductor at the time of boarding. Exact change is appreciated.
Full Disclosure:
If NS has not delivered by 8:45 am or so, the train will return East Strasburg, as #475 will be needed for passenger service starting at 10:30 am.
