The Youngstown Steel Heritage Fall Open House is scheduled for Sept. 23 and for the occasion we decided to put the saddle tank on the frame to show what the locomotive will look like when restoration is complete. Still much work to be done, including reinstallation of the boiler, refurbishing of the saddle tank and completion of the cab, but it looks a lot more like a locomotive now than it did when we started 2 1/2 years ago.

"Wheres the beef"? I have to wonder what this thing sounded like when it really worked? Every time I see a picture of this I just smile and am not sure why. I think again it is just the mass and incredible "heaviness" that makes me grin. She is so ugly she is cute! Nice job once again Rick. Sure wish I was closer or had the money to go to OH/PA, so much to see around there. Regards, John.

We are now planning on the return of the boiler around Thanksgiving, and an initial steamup in the spring of 2018.

I was curious about how the loco would look going around the 40' radius curve so with great effort, a snatch block and the forklift I dragged it back into the curve to get a look. Not too bad, even still has a little bit of swing left in the rear drawbar. I will have to remember to not keep anything between the track materials bin and the main track from now on!
