At its Fall Conference in Minneapolis Oct. 4-7, HeritageRail Alliance is looking to give a Lifetime Achievement Award to a deserving longtime volunteer or employee who has played an important role in your museum or tourist railroad. Ross Rowland There can be many people/stories on this, some uncelebrated, if you want to put one person on the spot, but many others crank it on themselves without the glory. |

Overall, Ross has had more influence on operating steam excursions than anyone I could name, other than perhaps, the late George Hart. I believe the inquiry has been for individual groups, museums, restorations, clubs. Maybe I mis-read it. |

My personal choice would be Doyle McCormack. While Ross was a big influence on getting things started, Doyle has been steadily involved, hands on, and has a great record of accomplishments for many years. I don't feel that his hard work for so many years has been noticed by many. One reason I feel is that he isn't on social media and is always busy on the "next project". Take a hard look at what he has done over the years. He has also been available to take questions and advise or help other groups. He does it quietly and well. |

I'm too young to witness all these steam excursions that you guys may have but I do have to say It's Ross Rowland. we do have to put Graham and Robert Claytor into the mix. I wish I could have met them and witness everything these men have done. I would love to meet Ross Rowland. I suggest that Ross Rowland should write his memoirs if he hasn't done that yet? |

Well, I'm still trying to figure out what Mr Secco meant by somebody rolling around in a museum. I'm pretty sure that isn't what Aaron is looking for. Posthumous recommendation for Dan Ranger. |

It also seems clear that Aaron wants to present an award to someone still alive. I imagine Mark and I have the same person in mind. :) |
