The Arizona Railroad Heritage Park has announced the repatriation of yet another piece of former Arizona rolling stock, Magma Copper Co./San Manuel Arizona RR General Electric 25-tonner #6, later long in operation at the Ports of Duluth. which arrived in Williams yesterday (October 23rd, 2023). The loco shared an enginehouse with the San Manuel Arizona RR, and Magma Copper owned the SMA, thus some overlap in ownership and roster.

The locomotive has been listed in production records, online and off, as a GE 25-tonner, construction number 34584, order 2520, built in Feb. 1964, but this loco has all the typical spotting features of the larger 35-ton model, including a higher hood, which was applied by GE to some of the last late-production 25-tonners. It also features the unusual independent-axle suspension.

This loco joins "sister" Magma Arizona Alco RS3 #3 on the property, acquired in 2019:

I'm not getting into the whole conumdrum of why they're still snatching up even more rolling stock when the bureaucrats keep repeatedly stonewalling the construction plans/sites for the proposed "Arizona State Railroad Museum"..................

It does not appear that anything is going to happen in Williams during my lifetime. Not to open a can of worms, but what the heck, if anything, is going on?
