All,

Being that I am a transplanted BUFFALONIAN, I am in need of freight cars, refrigerator and caboose trucks from the old BUFFALO CAR MANUFACTURING COMPANY. What I need is the different types of freighter trucks that BUFFALO CAR MANUFACTURING COMPANY used. If you guessed BUFFALO, NY, you’re dead on!

Thank You ,
Mr. Starr

Shouldn't that be "American Bison"?

Hmmmmm....
Buffalo was consolidated into ACF in 1899 and the plant closed for car manufacturing in 1931. As to where you'd start asking about old records or components you'd probably have better luck tracking down NYC info (possible) than with ACF (very unlikely). NYC/LS&MS were big customers.

Good luck with that search.

Some ACF records are at the University of Missouri - St. Louis. St. Louis Mercantile Library and housed within the Barriger Library Special Collection. This collection was donated to the library by ACF in 1993

Back in the early 1990's i found a old broken cast iron bolt on journal box cover. In raised letters it has Buffalo Car Co. C 1856 on the front. I found it along the old 1852 blt. T. N., & C. RR , C&T RR , LS&MS Ry./ NYC R.R. grade in Northern Ohio. Would this be from the same Buffalo Car Company you are referring to? any idea what year this company was formed? I'll try to post a picture of it when i get a chance.

The "C 1856" is probably a pattern number.
