Sorry for the delay in posting these photos. Here are photos of the cosmetic restoration of C&O #2700 2-8-4 sitting at the Dennison Railroad Museum in Dennison, OH. We are 4 weeks into the project and have another 2 weeks before the project is complete. We have had to make over 300 new parts for this locomotive as the original parts have been scattered all over the country as so many hands have touched the locomotive over the past 25 years. Before Photo Enclosure being built around locomotive for blasting and painting Here you can see paint before blasting has begun New parts starting to go on Blasting complete, ready for paint (All bearings were covered and not blasted, running gear will be high pressure washed prior to paint) Here is a sample of the more than 300 parts fabricated for this project Here is a close up of gloss black epoxy paint First time out in the sunlight New jacketing being installed. the new jacket is spaced off the boiler with angle iron rolled around boiler to allow air flow to keep boiler dry over time and prevent further decay |

It's looking better, however all that work will be in vain if they can't get it under shelter |

Whats the story on the missing running gear parts. However, she looks great, much improved! Something to be really proud of! |

I think some lima berks around the country got parts taken for 759, 765 may have even got a part or 2 somewhere, 757 might have gotten a part or 2 taken off, somebody else out there might chime in and know something. I already know 765 has parts off scrapped engines. |

What's missing between trailing truck and tender? Fantastic rescue of a derelict in any event. |

757 is missing it's injector and one cylinder head. It has pistons, rods and one head from the 759 and 757's components are on the 759 now. |

One of the nicer stories regarding neglected and vandalized locomotives. She's looking like a credit to your organization and efforts. Thank you. An issue so many groups have to deal with is parts taken home or distributed in good faith...then the group dissolves or somebody dies or gets mad, and the part becomes property or a yard sale item. Did 2700 go through that indignity? |
