They can accept donations for a good show. To quote Alfalfa, "Pay as ya exit". Worked for the Little Rascals, could work for the society too.

What is happening? Nothing new on Facebook or the website. Nothing about membership attainment. It's been 5 months!

Bueller, Bueller. Is there any new information? No new posts in months and automated responses from Facebook and website.

I likewise haven’t heard a peep from any channels as of late. I hope it’s not dead but fear it is...

Interestingly, the Iron Horse Society is not shown as a Partner on the nps/stea site.

Interesting. You can get there from the "partners" link, but not the "support your park" link.

In any event, there's no there there. The IHS links are all dead. You can send an email using the "send us your information" link tho.

While we're here, the L&WV Chapter NRHS, which is on both STEA links, is running a double excursion as part of Railfest 2018. Train to Moscow, lunch at Moscow, bus to Lackawaxen, Stourbridge Line to Honesdale, bus back to Steamtown. Ticket also includes 2-day Railfest Pass.

L&WV NRHS are the primary support group for the work on B&M 3713.

Sorry for this late response to the thread. I have not been on RYPN in a while.

I do want to let you know that even though I am not a member of the Iron Horse Society, the group is still active. The difficulty with their current organization is that the people leading this group are also active volunteers at Steamtown. Some are active in the Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley Railway Historical Society or other affiliated with Steamtown groups. Their webmaster, who also served as the Facebook page admin has resigned, and therefore their digital footprint for now is inactive.

So far, their budget expectation for the year is fulfilled, and they have been working on sprucing up portions of the railroad yard. One piece that was completed in the Spring is the green shed just outside the roundhouse. This Instagram photo shows the door being replaced, and also the windows. It was recently painted by volunteers. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bi7Cr2Ilok6 ... eamtownnhs

One of the next projects is to paint the two-dome tank car outside of the Oil House. It has been a solid black since a contractor painted it in 2009, and they hope to have it stenciled and marked up, possibly in 2019. Some members of the group are working with the park to install a functioning water column to water the steam locomotives. Things like this might sound small, but they all take time, and need to go through compliance approval so these great ideas are not damaging to the park, or to the artifacts.

I don't know what anyone in RYPN expected the Iron Horse Society to become, but this is it. Bigger projects might be in the future, but all partnerships in the park need to be aligned with park goals.

If anyone here would like to offer a hand in taking over either the web development or Facebook side of things, contact Norman Barrett: nyowfan@msn.com, or (570)575-5320.

I was asked to relay this information to clarify my own post
I was not the webmaster, but a charter director and Treasurer.

I established an "unofficial" Facebook page to have public outreach (away from RYPN detractors , not necessary to mention) and it was our sole outreach until the rest of the Board insisted that we establish a "corporate page" because it was supposed to provide advertising revenue without a transition or content migration plan. I never had anything to due with the regular website, which was basically stillborn

They created the new corporate page, and I continued the old page as "Interesting Railroad Stuff", until interest diminished that I archived the page this week.

The digital footprint is inactive because the present board is not posting information either on the Facebook page they insisted was necessary or the website that has always been inactive.

Wow.

Having some knowledge of the situation, I'm fairly certain that the individual gave you the information in that quote for background, not for as written publication.
