Post subject:  Coal Availability

This is an older article from last August, but the subject is worth considering--the availability of steam locomotive fuel.

Now in spite of the article's headline, the railway people there don't seem too concerned, at least not yet. There are concerns farther out, though, and part of that is because some British engines can be a bit fussy about the coal they get.

We may eventually have similar issues here, in that our fuel market is very small compared with what most coal goes for--and like the Brits, our coal burners aren't designed for powdered coal.
