Post subject:  Railroad Marker Found in Wheeling, W.Va.

This really belongs in Flimsies, and if I knew how to put it there, that's where it would go. . .anyway, just a news story from the paper in Wheeling, and a sad reminder of how much has been lost there.

Interesting: Wish they would have showed a better photo. Perhaps the most important object concerning the B&O and Wheeling is ROSEBY's ROCK. A long forgotten and neglected site.

Wheeling was well covered in track back in the day. Now there's nary a stick of rail to be found between Wellsburg an Benwood.

Indeed--Baltimore & Ohio (multiple routes joining there), Pennsylvania Railroad, and Wheeling & Lake Erie via Wheeling Terminal Company (PRR subsidiary), plus standard and Pennsylvania broad gauge trolley lines operated by two companies in the classic era, which included dual gauge trolley track in the downtown area.

All gone. . .
