The Ringling Show after WWII acquired many hospital cars to upgrade the passenger fleet. One of them can be found in Baraboo WI at the Circus World Museum and was an advertising car. From what is described in this post appears to be a former Mortuary car. https://penneyvanderbilt.files.wordpres ... ingcar.jpg Here are a few being used as elephant cars. The 3 axle trucks were ideal for that cargo. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/07/ ... 189193.jpg The first year they were used was 1947 I believe. That year they were painted red and the flats and stocks were yellow. That scheme gave way to all silver which remained the color until the end. Here is a B&W of one of the cars in 1947 http://donsdepot.donrossgroup.net/dr0105/rbb56.jpg By the 1970s most were waiting to be scrapped https://c1.staticflickr.com/7/6032/5890 ... 5994_b.jpg |
