Image I remember an art class in high school the art teacher had a variety of interesting objects to draw and one of them was a model like this one seeing here. It was very educational and informative and how a steam locomotive piston worked and I'm wondering if you can still get those today.

This device is commonly called a "Steam Instructor" and they show up regularly on eBay. Some of the more complex and highly finished versions command very high prices.

We (Valley Railroad) bought a brand new one made in India a few years ago from a school supply company in New York state. It is like a stationary steam engine (fly wheel, not a driver) but has the cylinder and valve behind clear plastic so when it is connected to compressed air, it actually operates. Cheap too: about $50.00. Pretty neat! J.David
