There are several pages of interest in GE Model 44 tonners down below. So here is an update on our three
Diesel-electric locomotives.

When many Interurbans were taking down their wire in the 1940s these GE locomotives were just the ticket.

We have Visalia Electric #502 (GE, 1942). It has had one of the Diesels re-built and is in operating condition. It is our rescue locomotive if AC power goes down, or equipment breaks down.

The Sacramento Northern #146 (GE, 1946) It is being overhauled; with two generators rebuilt and one Diesel in the process. It will be re-painted into SN colors.

The Salt Lake, Garfield & Western DS.2 (GE, 1945) is on display in car Barn Three at the head of a short freight train. It will be a cosmetic display. It is ex New York, Ontario & Western 101.

We also have Navy Diesel L.2, that is being kept for parts. And when the Sacramento Northern #145 was scrapped; we sent a truck back to Ohio to obtain a pile of Diesel and other parts.

Hi Ted, a couple of corrections. VE 502 was built in August 1945. The Salt Lake Garfield and Western locomotive is D.S. 2.
