Albert Reinschmidt, known here on RYPN as "buslist", passed away last night after a long battle with cancer
He was a consultant with many RR's around the globe, a former director at the AAR transportation test center, a valued volunteer at IRM, and was one of the worlds leading experts on wheel to rail interaction.

Greetings:
I met Al in 1959 on a CB&Q steam fan trip (4-8-4 No.5632 double headed with 2-10-4 No. 6315) from Chicago to Galesburg (an ill fated trip, 6315 broke an eccentric rod west of Mendota, got pushed to Galesburg and then left behind).
In 1960 we rode the Illini Railroad Club trip from Chicago to Biwabik, Minnesota, a three day trip via CB&Q (with 5632) overnight on the NP to Duluth, an all day trip with 2-8-8-4 No.222 (we got our first steam cab rides on 222), then back the way we came with 5632 running at 90MPH between Savannah and Aurora.
He was a brilliant Mechanical Engineer, there didn't seem to be any wheel or rail type or configuration that he hadn't done research on or with.
He will be missed...
