A California benefactor has purchased Sierra 34 and donated it to the CSRM foundation, which will transfer ownership to Railtown. How's that for good news?

with all the bad news out there lately, rail preservation and world preservation, this is GREAT news. Now what about the other Sierra steamer in Fred's collection? I don't think it has a tender yet though.

Not just good or great news but the best news! That's fantastic. Best part is no move is involved.

There’s three. One, #18, is the one that has no tender. The other 2-8-2, #36, and then there’s the Mallet, #38 which is headed to Garibaldi.

I was under the impression they didn't want it. This is fantastic news.

Ah, I'd forgotten that the 38 had some Sierra time too. I helped Fred build the tracks it was stored on in McCloud. What a worn out engine! The drivers were almost double flanged! Didn't realize he had the 36 too.
