Hallo! 4 weeks ago the last active class 95-engine hauled a special train from Blankenburg (Harz) to Rübeland (Harz). The railway line was opened as an rack-railway. In 1920 the rack-buisness was finished. In 1960 the Deutsche Reichsbahn electrificated the line with the -for geramany- unique energy system of 25 kV/ 50 Hz. In 2005 the regular passenger service finished. Now are running just freighttrains and sometimes special trains with class 95.

According to info on the internet, it's a 2-10-2T. One of 45 built in the 1920's, although apparently some got new boilers. I seem to recall seeing a photo of a 2-10-2T built for a logging outfit out in the western United States. But maybe my memory's playing tricks on me. Anyone know for sure, one way or the other? Les |

Sammy !!! I'm glad to see you made it over to the Interchange forum, and thank you very much for posting the HSB 95er fotos. Looking forward to seeing what is NEXT, of course my favorites are br 01.5, 18-201, and Wolsztyn. NO. What are REALLY my favorites are the feldbahn museums, such as I see in every issue of Dampfbahnroute. There are very few operating industrial railroad exhibits in this country by comparison, and not very many park railroads with live steam either. Probably there are more in just the one state of Saxonia, than in all of the USA. Mit Volldampf in 2018 !!! Please keep it coming, my friend.... |
