When did they decide to make this a stuffed and mounted display piece? It seems like a lot of wasted money for the many donors who were expecting to ride this once it was finished. Kevin |

Kevin Is it possible that they are looking to find a location that they can continue the restoration work (which they state will continue), while having it available to the public to raise awareness of the funds they need? It seems that the current location is strictly off limits to any pulic tours, which is kind of counter constructive to raising money for a worthwhile project. Once completed, then a move to active rail could be accomplished. Just a thought.... |

It all reads pretty simple to me. They have run the dollar they have to their name through the wringer several times and nothing more is squeezing out of it. so now exploring new money? |

"The Flying Yankee" is one of the rare motive power treasures of the B&M and MEC railroads. It marks a transitional period, dabbling with art-deco design. Speaking only for myself, the train is in better hands and better condition today, only because of the attention it's received. With funding to finish what has begun, permission to run it on mainline rails, I see no reason to pull the plug on this group. |
