Our biggest rescue to date is underway and grading has been completed to help us move UP cabooses 2095, 2267, and Stock car 37222, we didnt anticipate having to do all three at the same time but needs must as they say or these will be lost forever. Still time to donate please if anyone can. These cars are 1880, 1901 and 1913 respectively. Some of the original features in the cabooses are extraordinary.

For those of us not in the know, are these part of the former Boulder County Railroad Historical Society collection in Valmont, or something else? (I found an old post reverencing cabooses at "Heil Valley Ranch in Boulder") I cannot find any information on either your web site or Facebook page on where your group is located or what your plans are for the equipment. It appears High Plains Railroad Preservation is affiliated with Cheyenne Live Steamers? Some backstory would be helpful.

The texts mention two cabooses and one stock car. The photos seem to show an additional boxcar. Can we get a list of all the cars involved, and the plans for them? Do any of them have trucks?

Tom -

Most cars preserved like this would have had their trucks removed. More importantly, do any of them still have their underframes? Missing trucks can be secured; missing underframes have to be built up.

So High Plains Railroad Preservation are based in Cheyenne we are a 501c3 non profit formed officially in 2016 after many years of preservation and restoration on my own. We own Car 57 a 1887 Denver Texas and Fort Worth Pullman car, UP 2516 a 1913 CA caboose currently at Big Boy 4004 in Cheyenne as the site office for the renovation, and UP CA1 3171 formerly from The Boulder County historical society at Valmont. The Heil valley ranch cabooses we are saving are a different site and the rescue was entirely instigated between myself and Boulder County Parks, there are two more boxcars on site one is 300589 , both are UP and one more caboose 2199 which are staying and being preserved there. All the rest will move to Cheyenne for long term storage and restoration, we will assist Boulder County in the conservation of all these other items.
The underframe is missing from the stock car but that's not a huge issue, the bolsters are missing from the cabooses which again isn't a big deal, they have wooden frames. What is a big deal is the wooden CA trucks, we may have to build a batch of 8 or 10.
