I just got home from two days working on the 757 at the Railroad Museum of PA with Zach Hall and Dan Pluta. We got the left side rods put back on, spacers installed to take the place of the forked main rod, and some work done on the foundation brake rigging. Brake cylinders for the No. 1 and 2 drivers were taken apart to be rebuilt since one was stuck and the other had significant corrosion damage. The brake cylinder for the 3 and 4 drivers is functional, as well as the tender brakes. I must admit that when we put air to the entire trainline today for the first time and the dead engine feature started chattering as it was charging the main reservoir, it was quite a satisfying thing to behold. Little by little things are starting to work again.

We will be back in another month to continue our work. The right side rods go on next, the brake cylinders will go back together and we start doing brake applications and releases to keep working the rust out of the brake rigging.
