Post subject:  Missing Shays in Mexico

Both Surviving World Steam, and Wes Barris' steamlocomotive.com list a pair of two-foot gauge shay locomotives as being displayed in a park in Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico. Searching on Google Earth till my eyes crossed revealed no trace of these.

Additionally all searching via google proved fruitless.

Shaylocomotives.com listed three two-foot gauge Shays as having been built for the Laguna Co. which is said to be the origin of the two that Wes lists, but all were reported scrapped as early as the 1930s. (C/N 2042, 2084, 2102)

Does anyone have any information about the two Shays said to be in a "park" in Ciudad del Carmen? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Doug,

Sorry, but I haven't a clue about the Shays...

BUT, I was wondering about Mexicano del Pacifico 2-6-2 #6, and 2-8-2 #4. Last I saw of #6, she appeared to be in the Chepe shop in Los Mochis, headed North, coupled up behind a Ferromex GP-38. #4 seems to have just vanished. As you know, the MdelP has been completely destroyed.

Que Lastima
