Post subject:  Next on the "To Save" List: Amfleet and P42's???

Yesterday's Trains.com Newswire has an article (behind the paywall) that indicates the following (first sentence cited as fair use):

Quote:
Amtrak plans to seek proposals from manufacturers and award a contract by the end of 2018 for equipment to replace its current fleet of GE P42DC diesels and Amfleet cars, according to a statement by president and CEO Richard Anderson at an employee town hall meeting.

There's more in the article, and I must point out that this may not come to pass as suggested. But if it does........ you heard it here first, and the "most appropriate" museums should start getting their acts together for a long-term acquisition plan.

Or, for all we know, we'll be stalking them at transit agencies in another 25 years.
