Excellent idea with the scrappers. I am not married to the idea of keeping the trucks either. they look like plane bearings so I don't know how many people would be interested in them. The lot where the car is located is inside the city and some tight street corners and highway ramps might stop me right in my tracks. Anyone have a ballpark figure on the weight? Im assuming 200klbs @~80' long. Im having trouble finding exact figures though since I know absolutely nothing about passenger cars.

The trucks are actually oil lubed roller bearing. The trucks are second hand from the C&O and were acquired when the cars were modernized around 1950.

The car weighs about 190,000 lbs.

In theory then, the trucks have some value and could help pay for the move of the body.

Trucks are heavy. 10 or so tons per truck? So, the body is down in the 60 ton range perhaps?

Of course, without trucks, you need a foundation to sit the car on.

Anyone know anything about the ex-NYC Baggage Express (Theatre/Horse car) at the site along with it?
