I'm reading on the Facebook page of photo collector Marty Bernard conflicting info on the former electric loco that was supposedly there:

Bernard's query:
https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php? ... 8458391209

Earlier post HERE claiming it was rescued to Minnesota:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=42630

Over at AOTT, someone says it got scrapped.

So was the poster from "Ironhorse Railroad Park" a delusional liar?

Photo that Bernard posted, "Duane Hall may have taken it at the Indiana Transportation Museum circa 1985."

Still at Forrest Park, unless something changed recently. But if anyone wants it I would suggest removing it soon.

I do not know what happened to my posting Friday on this subject.

I was at Logansport Thursday, at the request of a private purchaser of the CNJ car and was not allowed on the property. Clearance was to have been made for me to be there, but some missed communications stopped me from being allowed on the property.

The CNJ car was still on it's trucks and I assume a purchase will be completed on it, but only part of one of the DL&W cars remained. So there are history/scrap.

This photo was taken July 22 by hytwr1 and posted on the Indiana Railroads board, obviously a few cars still are left in Logansport, including this Pullman, most likely the CofNJ car. According to this article https://www.pharostribune.com/indiana/a ... d0f88.html the scrapper is C&S Demolition, whose owner is named David Stowers.

Let us not forget, none of this equipment was part of ITM's main collection, and was stored on a siding north of the museum for many years. Many of the cars had been picked for parts, and were also heavily vandalized/stripped. Sad to see it have to go nonetheless...

As for the diminishing amount of former ITM equipment still sitting there in Logansport, the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum in North Judson, Indiana is eventually going to receive Chicago, Indianapolis & Louisville (Monon) boxcar #1220. That might be Monon 1220 "hiding" behind the coach in htywr1's photo that PMC posted above.

Some news about the ITM collection has surfaced. First, a group is attempting to save both PRR 8007 Philadelphia County, a 13 Bedroom lightweight Pullman sleeper and part of the Fleet of Modernism, and Wheeling and Lake Erie/NKP/N&W 1887 wood Pullman business car #3. The group trying to save the cars is the Louisville Railway Company, the same group that saved the SAL coach from Sullivan IN. The second piece of news is that, possibly, some of the remaining equipment at Noblesville may be scrapped beginning October 1. This last piece of information I am not certain of but rather have gleaned from various facebook posts. I do not know the identity of the other two passenger cars LRC is trying to save, but I believe two baggage cars (NYC 8222 and PRR 9026), and one diner (SAL 8091) remain, beyond the two discussed above, although they may be counting two Santa Fe coaches in the process of being parted out.. (I am not involved in any way with this group).

Several facebook posts spliced together:
"We the Louisville Railway Company are trying to save four passenger cars total at the old Indiana Transportation Museum. We have reached an agreement with the sellers. Here is the pics inside the N and W Office Car... Gang we have done the hard part here securing an agreement with Noblesville to buy the Philadelphia County at scrap price and save her from the torch. Noblesville has bent over backwards to help us with parts for our Seaboard Coach items that are no longer available lighting fixtures , sinks, and saved us thousands of dollars. The Philadelphia County is not unlike our Seaboard Coach and to be honest we have been blessed in finding two pre war cars. Symbols of modern railroading from two famed trains. The name Silver Meteor lives on today with Amtrak. And the name Broadway Limited is a symbol of the Pennsylvania and rivals the 20th Century Limited. Philadelphia County is the last of her class no sister cars remain from that Pullman floor plan. She is rough but is in better shape than the Frank Thompson was rescued. She has sat like a lady in waiting since the Penn Central donated her to the Indiana group at Westport decades ago....Friends equipment does not rescue itself and we are saving history. Philadelphia County is the last County car left. The 1887 wood car can be stabilized but first we have to save her. We are dependent on your donations we are not the ITM where did this go group but a group trying to save four of the six passenger cars that remain there. We must be paid in full to the seller to get titles. we take any donations welcome "

Really Hope they can find the funds and home for the N&W office car. Apparently it has been stored for all of its life inside a barn and hasn’t been pulled out until now. Not every day you see a lavish N&W wooden Office car in such great condition and style. As for the PRR Pullman I hope they can nab it before it goes the way of NYC Prewar Observation car Maumee River. Good luck to all participating party’s.

Never said they couldn’t be interested in it I just meant good luck to any party’s that may be trying to help acquire the car. I would hate to see it turned into woodchips or have the PRR Pullman turned into silverware.

The car is from the original Wheeling and Lake Erie RR, which was taken over by the Nickel Plate in 1947, which in turn was taken over by N&W in 1964. Wheeling and Lake Erie was mainly in Ohio. I understand that Age of Steam, which is in the Columbus OH area, wanted to acquire the car but backed out after a management change.

Good news coming from Noblesville. The office car has been saved. Reported from the Colebrookdale Railroad’s Facebook page.

The same group that engineered the saving of this car (John Owen and Louisville Railway) is preparing to move the Philadelphia County out of Forrest Park by October 30 as well.

Another last-minute save out of Noblesville is ex-Amtrak 8091, ex SCL 5961, ex-ACL "Naples", a rare Pullman-Standard 1957 diner with an all-stainless steel superstructure. This car is scheduled to be trucked out first week of November.
