It sadly never made it to AOSR. Supposedly it was sold to a private owner in the Midwest...

What prompted the scrapping? Is their Logansport deal not working out?

Rumor on Ahead of the Torch is that they were evicted (again) and/or they needed to pay creditors.

Is that the gray PRR covered hopper on its side, beneath the yaws of the backhoe? If so, that is too bad. it was one car I still had hopes would be preserved. For some of the other cars up there, restoration may not have been economically feasible anyway. I hope the parts are being salvaged by another group.

If you go to this post of mine from a year ago viewtopic.php?p=302752#p302752 and look at the sixth photo from the top I believe it is still at Forrest Park and owned/controlled by the city/county. How long it will stay there is anybody's guess, so it would be nice if it were actually preserved. Someone commented that the car on its side looks like a Pullman troop sleeper.

If you mean the two heavyweights at Logansport: "Update: Both Pullman Heavyweights, Paul Jones and Poor Richard Club, are in the process of being scrapped or already scrapped."

There were at least two PRR cars still at Forrest Park a year ago, the aforementioned covered hopper, and what probably was PRR 8007, the Philadelphia County, a 13-bedroom lightweight sleeper.

Sorry to see the fleet of DL&W MU's thinned a bit further. I always intended to get a shot of the 4337 one day since I have the headlight from her, a gift from NJT in 1984 while shooting night shots.

That was an Alcoa open hopper.

It is my understanding that almost all of the pieces being scrapped in Logansport were from the offsite storage location in Arcadia. They were moved to Logansport in order to not be charged by the property owner at that location (Stone Spectrum) or something like that. The whole situation is a mess.

The hopper car being scrapped is from Aloca.

It is a real shame that this group is so irresponsible and not seeing parts from this equipment being saved.

This equipment was not part of the main ITM collection, and sat on a siding north of Noblesville for years, and was heavily vandalized, stripped, and for the most part derelict. It's my understanding that it's the town of Logansport who is doing the scrapping, and not ITM as they have been asked to leave yet another property...

Facebook post by Todd Flanigan: https://www.facebook.com/todd.flanigan.1 "To all concerned. The Monon boxcar from ITM that is currently in Logansport is safe and will be joining the Monon DS-50 and Monon transfer caboose 81551 in North Judson." Meaning, at the HVRM. Not "safe" until it is beyond the striking distance of torches though.

The group restoring SAL 6400 viewtopic.php?p=292699#p292699 in the past few weeks was able to remove parts from two AT&SF coaches at Forrest Park: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Hoosier ... 085315800/ "Dear Hoosier friends I am happy to announce the donation of parts by the City of Noblesville from two x Santa Fe Coaches previously scheduled for scrap these will be a huge help in restoring the Seaboard Observation we were donated by Charlestown...Today we wet to Noblesville Indiana to survey two x Santa Fe pre war coaches for parts for 6400. Today we returned with a coach door and took it to Charlestown for storage inside the 6400. We plan to cherry 24 coach seats and luggage racks from the one car and 4 some replacement fluting." So the Forrest Park equipment is due for thinning soon, i.e. if you are interested in, say, a four unit set of Milwaukee Road F's, the time to do so is about used up.

I could be wrong but I thought that most of the Forest Park equipment was to be retained by the city for a new railroad exhibit. Makes sense they would scrap the more derelict equipment.

But I agree, any inquiring about the Milwaukee Road F's should be done ASAP!

Update: I guess I misremembered the facts, the only thing being restored/retained is the Hobbs Station.

"Hamilton County officials say no new museum is planned. Instead, the Nickel Plate Express will continue to focus on providing a “rolling history experience,” said Brenda Myers, CEO of Visit Hamilton County."
