All,
I was wondering if anyone knows where to get a replacement gasket for the top window behind the engineer in an EMD SW9? I already have the replacement glass.

I was just researching this as I may be needing windows and weatherstripping for an EMD locomotive soon.

PowerRail in Duryea, PA has such components for EMD locomotives.

Will you be using glazing? Or old standard safety glass? Safety glass is acceptable on vintage equipment up to 1950 (please cross reference the current CFR) or with an easy to apply for waiver. Safety glass uses a standard weatherstrip that any local glass supplier should be able to provide.

What is the difference in the seal for the new glazing vs the old safety glass?

The original FRA type glazing is VERY thick, multi-laminated glass, so the gasket is made to accommodate that thickness. If you were able to get an exemption and put in an automotive type safety glass, then there are many variations on gaskets out there, used typically on industrial equipment (think tractors, backhoes, etc. ).

I tried powerrail, they wanted to sell me 20 when I only need 1. Anyone have a source that will sell me just 1? Thanks.
