I'm looking for a source of sliding windows that could be used on an RDC with an inoperative Air Conditioning system. I'm aware of the Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern's recent application of such windows to their RDCs, wondering if anyone else has experience with such work, as well as price per unit. Thanks in advance!

Would it be simpler to fix the A/C? At $200+ per window, plus any needed rubber gaskets, it adds up fast... A/C while not cheap might be cheaper, and result in better preservation.

Why not contact RBMN directly; they have done it and recently got another RDC.

I would agree entirely on the prospect of repairing AC being more viable. This isn't a car we own, its owner has requested exploring the option of opening windows.

Every time someone installs sliding windows in a Budd passenger car, a unicorn cries.

Budd actually offered an opening window option on its coaches and RDC cars. The demonstrator unit had a couple of sets of them. The NYS&W commuter cars Budd built had them.

Perhaps contact the illinois railroad museum. I think they have the Budd drawings from Bombardier.
