http://www.onrtrains.com/news.htm - Here's a interesting bit of information I just ran into, according to a news story posted on ONRTrains.com, Ontario Northland 4-6-2 #701 is to be restored and hopefully operated on the Ontario Northland. The story is from late last month and is the second one down.

Sorry to necro this old post but yesterday the engine and its enclosure were dedicated: "July 6, 2019 was the day that the Englehart 701 Restoration Committee officially handed over the completed beautification work of the 701 and the newly built canopy that protects it back to the Town of Englehart. It was a 9 year job put forth by this committee to create what you see here. A big Congratulations to everyone who played a role in this beautiful display." https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... ater&ifg=1

I wish more communities would do something similar. A simple shed and cosmetic restoration/paint job would go a long way towards protection of static locomotives. Giving some sense of community pride makes it less likely to be the subject of vandalism and long term destruction. Even if 701 isn't returned to steam (and it should be), this is the way to go. I'd suggest an eight foot fence as icing on the cake.
