Wow. I mean, "Wow!"

Set inside a true railroad shop of amazing heritage, this collection is not only broad, but under cover. There are passenger, freight, and MOW cars, as well as an F7A (in an F3A body), a rare ALCO road switcher with 6 wheel trucks, some industrial Diesels, and the beautiful Hudson, #5703. Tours are escorted and the building could cover a full day's exploration. Docents have a railroad background and models run from H-O scale to live steam.
The Hudson is one of two survivors, numbered as 5700 rather than her true 5703, as the former got cut up before preservation happened. This locomotive has 80" drivers and must have easily hit the 100mph mark while in stride. Parts of sister locomotives can easily be found all over her. Regularly greased and oiled, she is moved periodically to keep things loose.

There has been two times since 1988 5700 has left St. Thomas for a short period of time. It has been to CN Safety Days in London, just up the road in the early 90's and to CN Safety Days at Vaughn Yard north of Toronto in 1995. Both in tow of course.
