I recall reading that there were 7 of the cars. From the pictures on NewDave'sRailpix, they appear to have been #2-14(even # only).

The Shamokin & Mt. Carmel Transit Co, a fourth user of Boston Type 5 clones in NEPA.

Here's a link from after the cars had migrated to Columbus OH. We can see they're the round-end variant:

Are there any updates on this as we approach the demolition date?

They have one year to go. Donations have been coming in but they still have a lot left to raise before they can haul her out of there. The group has been working on site prep and doing what they can with the funds they have. If anyone wants to send them a little holiday cheer, I know they would be very appreciative.

Just wanted to give an update, Wilkes-barre car #790 was successfully removed from the cabin on July 1st and is in a secure facility. The group responsible, Anthracite Trolleys, Inc., has even started some preliminary work on it! I'll allow the media below to tell the story but donations are still sorely needed - in order to be sure that 790 was saved the contractor responsible for the move, Robert J. Barna, agreed to move the car before the work was fully funded. Thanks

It's a lot less derelict than Scranton 505 was when we got it but will still need $$$ (don't they all).

Here's the Project 505 website:

The car has no underframe? It appears a modern residential floor has been fitted between the side sills. This should be an interesting fab project.

Most (but not all) of the crossmembers were cut out to allow headroom in the basement of the cabin. The bolsters were also removed. The beams that served as lifting points for the crane were, I believe, welded to the sills so that the car remained stable for transport. Once the carbody has sufficient strength restored to the frame the beams will be removed.

The body will need some side sheet repair for rust damage and where a doorway was cut into it but the roof is still intact needing only new canvas. Much of the interior is well preserved. The group has already located replacement bolsters and suitable trucks for the car.

Rest assured that 505 is still progressing, although we are probably a month away from making another announcement. Quality work takes time.
