This is probably the most unremarked steam preservation story of the year. Due to ground subsidence the museum was in critical danger of having the locomotive tip over and roll off of a 20' high fill taking the car shop with it. A small group of volunteers and one volunteer in particular, as well as the museum employees have undertaken to stabilize the locomotive, get it out of the shop, replace the rails and ties in the shop, put the locomotive back inside and do a cosmetic restoration on the engine. Most of the rail preservation community is totally unaware of their work and dedication because of other more spectacular headlines in 2018.
