A restoration project I didn't know about, and thought might be of interest here.

http://sanfranciscotrains.org/index.html

The group's Facebook page.

This locomotive was mentioned in another thread on endangered steam power:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=41687&p=274271

And another thread about the Bayshore Roundhouse, which this group is also looking to preserve.

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=26591&p=119878

Of course, I don't know anything about this group, except that it does have these internet presences. As is often the case, it's possible that some things aren't as updated as they should be.

Is anybody at liberty to provide additional details and commentary on what appears to be a small but patient and ambitious organization?

I saw that loco in a park in Alameda years ago; then in the present location. I does not look like much has changed lately. I hope that they suceed in preserving the Bayshore Roundhouse. It is a last link with San Francisco's steam railroad era.

The group is Chris Hart of Brisbane CA... also associated with Golden Gate RR Museum... the locomotive was part of their collection when they were at Hunter's Point.

Chris has been very active in local city planning in Brisbane. His efforts both with city planning and working with the developer of the site seem to have assured the preservation of the roundhouse and associated buildings...

With their primary efforts being focused on the buildings, there has been slower work on the locomotive, which has a cracked cylinder... which I believe has been addressed... I don't believe that this locomotive was ever in a park. Instead it was one of several saved in a Stockton junkyard.
