Post subject:  GTW 5629 video

Hi,

Myself and a few others are working on a short documentary about GTW 5629 for YouTube, and I was wondering if anyone here has any digitized video footage of the locomotive that we could use. If you have any you are willing to share, please email me at daylight4460@gmail.com.

No videos, but I have three still shots I took of 5629 while it was in regular service on the GTW in the 1950s -- in case they would be of any use.

The whole #5629 fiasco (while unfortunate) is an interesting case study into the failures of railroad preservation.


This next video has a bit of a mystery, at the 0:33 minute mark there is a photo of the #5629 parked behind an 0-6-0 switcher (with no lettering on the tender) can anyone identify the 0-6-0? (I have attached a photo of it):

However, the owners of the roundhouse went bankrupt and kicked him out. Dick knew it was coming, and nobody would help him move it about 500 feet to the Iowa Interstate. It's kind of sad to think that if just one person said "Sure" 5629 could be steaming again today.



Lastly, if I hear talk of turning GTW #5632 into #5629 again I will scream.

Don't know where the pic was taken, but that "mystery" 0-6-0 is Lehigh & New England #207, now at IRM.

It's the only surviving L&NE steam locomotive.

Thanks I was wondering if it ended up at IRM.

Comment on the first video (the aerial chase). That is from a preview I posted for our "Glory Machines of the GTW" DVD. The one shown was ripped from my YT channel without permission and I am in the process of having it removed.

YT is full of people who rip off other people's work. If another producer asks to use my footage, I may or may not approve it depending on how it will be presented and how it is credited.
In this case, the guy didn't even ask.
