In Part Two of Bob Hughes' 1969 transcontinental trip, he leaves Vancouver and continues down the west coast through Seattle, Portland and on to San Francisco on the Union Pacific, Burlington Northern, and Southern Pacific.

What a great trip! Thanks so much for posting. It brought back happy memories for me from the time I was stationed in the Army at Ft Lewis Washington in 1963-64. I used to ride the pool service on weekends from Tacoma to Portland and back. The dog's dinner assortment of cars and engines were a delight in those pre-Amtrak days. I would spend most of the trips walking from one end to another through the train\, checking out the different equipment.
