There was a recent article in the local paper about our new business plan:

https://www.dailyfreeman.com/news/local ... 8df1b.html

Kathy Nolan, the legislator quoted as against the plan, is a long-term adversary of the CMRR.

Today the crews are putting away the train for the winter - the Polar tent is coming down and we are wrapping up the season after a year of great accomplishments.

First of all, our ridership was over 41,000 this year - up from 36,700 in 2018.

Our biggest physical accomplishment was the extension to Stony Hollow - 1.67 miles of track renovated with nearly every tie replaced. It is an amazing stretch of track and finally allows us to run a scenic train once again.

In terms of equipment, we continued work getting the 2918 in service, replaced most of the windows in the 2962, and ordered new vestibule and end windows for the P72s that will be installed in 2020.We also painted many of the coaches, as well as the crane, gondola and ballast hopper. We brought another flat down from Phoenicia and added it to the train in the fall.

In terms of facilities, we built a new ticket booth in Kingston, built a new North Pole, the best tent we have ever had for Polar, and almost completed the section house move to MP 6.

Politically, we will have a much improved legislature in 2020 - with more pro-railroad members of the legislature, and our most vocal opponent lost their seat.

Finally, we completed our new business play for 2020-2024, which is a blueprint for the future of the railroad:

https://catskillmountainrailroad.com/business-plan/

A great year for the CMRR and we hope 2020 will be even better.

Who was this? I know NY had a very conservative legislature for a northern state prior to 2018 because of a long-running scheme for control of the legislature (that I won't elaborate on).
