FWRHS at New Haven, IN, acquired the 50 ton Plymouth locomotive that was owned by Carl Nourse at Delaware, Ohio. This was s/n 4416, built for the US Navy in Aug. 1942. It later worked for Cyclops Steel at Pittsburgh, Marble Cliff Quarries at Columbus, Ohio, as No. 25, Walton Agri-Services at Upper Sandusky (painted bright green) and finally at Carl Nourse's private railroad collection at Delaware, Ohio. The locomotive was serviceable and has been tuned up quite a bit. It is a strong loco and will outpull the FWRHS's Davenport 1231. It is used to switch NKP 765 and other equipment as needed, plus caboose hops. A paint job is planned in the next year or so but a US NAVY builders photo would be useful, or at any of the stops in its life. Also, does anybody have a photo of a suitable builders plate for these locos? It was a division of the Fate-Root-Heath Company, Plymouth, Ohio. Thanks, Wayne York, FWRHS Board |

Here's a shot of the plate from our Plymouth MDT40T. This plate, along with anything else that was brass (door handles, oilers, etc), was removed by a plant employee before we got the locomotive. Last year he called and said he was moving and asked if we wanted the stuff back. Ummm, yeah, sort of. Would be nice to have the items that belong to our locomotive, back on our locomotive. So, we picked them up and they're now in storage until we need them. This plate is not very big, maybe a quarter size or smaller than out GE plate.

Ken, could you check the dimensions? At Fort Wayne, we would like to get replica plates made up c/n 4416. Thanks, Wayne |

Hi Wayne. Off the top of my head, it's small, maybe 3"x5", or smaller. but i'll check when i'm out there on Saturday. Believe it was on the inside of the cab, and not on the outside like the frame or anything. |

We will probably go ahead and make some for the FWRHS. If anybody else is interested, let me know and we will make extra blanks. Cost of set up plus production divided by the number of plates........... |
