I am just curious, but did the pennsy ever own a GP40 between 1965 and 1968? I could not find anything about them owning one, but did they just not use smaller 4 axle switchers at the end, and instead used just SD40/45s? And if so, do any survive?

PRR's last mainline 4-axle diesels were GP35, U25B and C425 models in the mid-60's. After that all new mainline power was of the six axle variety.

Merger partner New York Central was the one that kept buying 4-axle mainline power and never bought a six axle mainline diesel in the mid-60's up to the Penn Central merger.
