Put my mother-in-law on the southbound Coast Starlight #11 on Monday 4/22. She was in "Business Class" which meant she was up toward the head of the train. As the train pulled out and began to run past me I noticed there was PV on the tail. A green car with "Pullman" on the signboard above the windows. By the time I noticed it, I didn't have the sense to try to grab my phone and in a moment it was gone.

Anyone know what PV this was? It was heavyweight vintage and style but I didn't notice whether it was 4 or 6 wheel trucks. Open rear vestibule.

That is business car #29 Dearing, making a countrywide tour before it joins a museum collection (due to Amtrak policies having a negative effect on PV's). Originally built by Pullman in 1925 as a heavyweight 12 section-1 drawing room sleeper named the Thompson for the GN's Oriental Limited (predecessor to the Empire Builder) (Lot #4845, Plan #3410), which was sold at the divestiture on 12/31/1948 to the CGW, which rebuilt it in 1953 to business car #100, to C&NW via 1968 merger, initially stayed as #100 in CGW maroon and black, later to C&NW #100, later to track geometry car #401 (2nd) with bedroom C removed, 1981 to #403, named Minnesota 1985-86, to UP via merger 1995, resold 1996 to North Carolina DOT as RNCX #400000 (1st), planned to be named Governor John "Motey" Morehead (not applied), stored until resold 2006 to Nelson McGahee as Georgia RR/Dearing RR #29 (#800029) Dearing (painted in GA RR dark green with red roof). The town of Dearing, GA, is located at milepost 29 on the Georgia RR, hence the choice in number, and name.
