Hi,

Does anyone have any info about this car? It’s a heavyweight observation car stored on an unused section of the Decatur Junction Railway in Cisco, IL. All I know is that it was built for the New York Central.

Any information would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Thomas

According to the database compiled by Tom Madden for his "The Pullman Project" the car entered Pullman service September 23, 1926, and remained in Pullman ownership until sold July 29, 1954, to Belt Railway of Chicago.

Robert Wayner's books indicate that this 3 compartment-2 drawing room-observation lounge car was one of a group of 25 such cars built for service on the New York Central. He also lists the sale to Belt Railway of Chicago.

There is also a very long thread on this subject, with a lot of material compiled by Ranier Rails.

An entry on the Central Plateau is on this page (you may have to hunt for it), and there are references to earlier entries as well.

Central Plateau as Brian posted was sold to the BRC, as their safety instruction car #1891, and it was later resold to Don Heimberger, then later resold to Ted Lemen, then later resold to a Ms. J. Howe (Lincoln, IL), #800220, and stored in Cisco, IL.
