Of the three reefers that Pennsylvania Trolley Museum used for parts storage in the past, one of them has successfully gone to preservation. The 40' steel ice reefer left the museum on 7/31. It moved on its own wheels the 7 miles to the Pennsylvania Transformer Technology plant at Canonsburg. PTT will lift the body onto a highway chassis and it and the trucks are going to Age of Steam Roundhouse in Ohio. It could not have gone entirely by rail as it still has its 1954 solid bearing trucks.

David -

Do you have car reporting marks? Road number? Possibly a photo? Thanks for any additional info.

The car being saved is SRLX 15405. An image of it appeared in this forum several years ago. The power used would have been Pittsburgh & Ohio Central's usual power for the branch ending at Arden. Lately that's been GP7 706 and GP9 1711, a suitably vintage set of power. P&OC works this branch typically M/W/F each week, servicing a large plastics processing plant near Pa. Trolley Museum.

I'm sure images of the move will appear, but unfortunately I missed the event myself due to illness.

Well,
...thank you for the pic-link.
I'm sure the A. of S. staff will transform/return this somewhat rare road/rust/worn
car into another " Historical Gem " for Sugar Creek.
