No. 148's newly updated burner and firing pan can accept a variety of oils - including biofuels! Once on the tracks again and following #USSugar's commitment to green energy, #EngineNo148 will be powered using vegetable oil. #GreenEnergy

More material on FEC 148; captions are from "Engine No. 148," the Facebook site for the locomotive.

It's always a good sign when the gauges begin to make an appearance! This vintage locomotive boiler pressure gauge, which was overhauled by FMW Solutions, has taken its rightful place at the top of the backhead.

Another pic, again with caption information coming from Engine No. 148's Facebook page.

Or it may be that the person who was doing the Facepalm updates has not had time for the previous frequency of posting, or some circumstance has made the updating notification less frequent.

This might be a far more appropriate issue to take up on the Facebook group itself, rather than speculate about here where no one knows.

If you had bookmarked the FEC 148 Facebook restoration page, that link no longer works.
It has been renamed. The new link is below.

I see a concern with their gauge. I see a ball valve and flare fittings on the copper line. As I recall you can't have a valve between the gauge and the boiler. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe it is temporary.

Not that I am aware of. See 49 CFR Part 230.42-46 regarding steam gauges.
