Just saw a T. J. Gaffney post on the "Ahead of the Torch" website concerning the location of former Grand Trunk Western carferry "City of Milwaukee". The RV location next to the site where the "City" is located has seen 4 of their RV parking spots flooded by the high water levels in Lake Michigan. Revenues from these RV spots help with the maintenance of the "City of Milwaukee" and a smaller ship, the "Acacia". Two more RV spots are in danger of being flooded, and the gift shop has also had some damage.

Water continues to be a problem at various rail preservation sites with flooding having occurred at Mid-Continent, IRM and other locations through the years.

Extreme flooding is a reality everywhere, and it is trending worse. Here in Denmark we are seeing more extremes - longer periods of drought, followed by heavier rains. The UK has just experienced a week of severe flash flooding.

This year, last year, and 2014 we had no summer steam operations due to drought and fire bans.

I've been reading that high water levels in the great lakes are a result of deliberate water outflow management by the organization which manages all of the dams that control water levels in the great lakes.

The Board’s main duty is to ensure that outflows from Lake Ontario meet the requirements of the IJC order. The Board also has responsibilities to communicate with the public about water levels and flow regulation, and work with the Great Lakes – St. Lawrence River Adaptive Management (GLAM) Committee to monitor and assess the performance of the regulation plan.

There are only four places where they can directly control the water levels of the Great Lakes --- the St Mary's river at the Soo, the Chicago River, Niagara Falls and a dam on the St Lawrence River west of Montreal.

While there are some dams on some of the lakes and rivers that flow into the Great Lakes, control of these bodies of water had not been mentioned as a cause of the high water levels, but a cooler and much wetter spring has.

Also, the water levels were about this high in 1986 and the levels typically reach their high for the year in early summer, then drop through winter and then rise again in the spring
