Hello, I've been researching the Ashton Valve Company which was started by my ancestor Henry Ashton back in 1871. His patented invention of a pop safety valve led to boilers of all kind being much safer. I'm posting a story I've been able to piece together from old trade journals.
If anyone using this forum has an Ashton Valve story to tell, please let me know. I'm always looking for new information.

Dear Rick,

According to the article linked below, the Smithsonian has a collection of steam safety valves from this time. The might have an example - and perhaps some archival materials as well-

Thanks Tom. I did order some copies of Ashton Valve correspondence from the Smithsonian a while back but I'll have to check to see if they have any Ashton Valve valves in their collection. If they don't, that issue could be rectified!

The company also produced steam gauges for many of the steam automobile companies including The Stanley Steamer, Winton Motor Carriage co, Pope-Toledo, the White company, and the Baker Steamer.

I picked this up a while back. It's a vacuum gauge tester some one turned into a lamp. It is no longer a lamp!

This page from a steam car site shows a chart that shows how many gauges the company produced by year from 1895 to 1922.
