It's been awhile now since I've been to Hamburg, Phil. The last time I saw #900, it had either plywood or flakeboard side panels. I'll try to schedule a trip over there this summer.

Unless something drastic changes my mind again, I've pretty much settled on 530 Chevrolet Cream Medium as the pre-1962 yellow on all units whether combined with the Brewster, Narva, or Seacrest Greens. It's working well with every dual chip match I'm attempting behind the scenes here.

That photo of a brand spanking new #900 is pretty definitive. You'd have a hard time convincing me that it's not Narva Green since I already called it plus, like I said, it's pretty much the only older fleet color it can be... LOL

Nice shot, Jim!!! Seacrest (Woodfield) Green and Safety Always Lemon Yellow would be the final combo the Reading used on the FP-7's in the mid-seventies and that appears to be what the guys at the museum are doing there. Here's what it looks like with the fan deck. I'll replace this photo with a more appropriate sunny day picture once the overcast lifts in about a week or so...

Here's #900 on the push-pull down at the terminal next to one of the M.U.'s. sometime before #900's last repaint. As you can see, the Cream Medium lettering and striping color on both it and the Brewster Green M.U. is absolutely identical...

LOL 70000!!! At least you guys from the U.K. know how to pronounce "Reading".

Here's #900 in March or April of 1973. It needed painted back then also which is what happened about a year later on...

The subtile difference between the faded Narva and new Seacrest/Woodfield Greens between #302 and #260 can be seen here in this early 1963 photo by Mr. Samsel. Can you tell which is which?... LOL

The window band color on the WK&S's Reading combine #408 looks exactly like Narva Green so if the cars painted as such were done from the time the cab engines showed up into the 50's, that would definitely make sense...

Narva Green's best match with the fan deck is GM code WE5774 which translates into the later DuPont code BM77 and Ditzler/PPG code 44628...

I've got the Brewster Green card pulled here also. I really hate to say this, but I might have to check that GMC Inca Gold, which is underneath the Narva Green fan deck card, against the Rio Grande... LOL

This is #408 back when it had fairly fresh paint. Narva Green is very close to the Ford Holly Green fleet color which is slightly less bluish so care must be taken to differentiate the two.

You guys can see the variation in the appearance of Brewster Green with the fan deck pictures I've been posting sans any dirt, grime, or oxidation so that's just what that color does. Here, it's really flashing a clean olive color like the patch job on RS-3 #486 a couple of pages ago which indicates this is probably a morning shot as well...

408 was actually an air-conditioned car. It was air-conditioned in the 1930's but probably got two-tone green paint around 1948 when the Wall Street, Schuylkill and King Coal got modernized cars (2000, 1525 and 590 series).

408 lost its A/C and regained openable windows for Iron Horse Ramble service.

Were the photos taken on the WK&S? What paint did they use?

BTW in the photo of FA-1 302, VO-1000 84 and F-3 260, they are on the dead track behind Reading Locomotive Shop. The sawtooth roof behind them is the Car Shop. 302 had been upgraded to 1600 HP, 84 was the first four stack Baldwin VO-1000 and 260 had been upgraded to D-27 traction motors and was equal to an F-7 in tractive effort.

That pic looks like it was taken around their little shop area at Kempton and probably shortly after it was painted out of the red color they had #408 in beforehand. That's Blue Mountain in the background. I have absolutely no idea which paint they may have used but hey, if any of you WK&S folks are out there following this thread, please, feel free to chime in!!!

I greatly appreciate your participation, Phil, because you really know your onions about the Reading. You're definitely teaching me stuff I wasn't aware of. Here's the link to the original photo of the deadline at the shops from the ARHS site...

There's another FA and a Trainmaster stuck in there also. Chances are #302 was never repainted in Woodfield before it went back to Alco and if it was, it looks like it almost all fell off already.

So anyway, here's the fan deck with all five greens and all three yellows and almost starting to develop the essence of one of those color drift card sets. This photo was taken shortly after noon and should represent the colors as seen in sunny day lunch hour shots...
