Wow, I may have just found 93-5800. Took a little red out of the pic in a rectangle around #6133 and #1067 and look what happened...

Yeah, WE5768 serves the South and I've seen green lights that color also... LOL

HMMMM, the green on #1067 is either 5316 or 6202 with 5316 holding the current advantage...

That fencepost I painted in 5316 for Audrey actually looks pretty good for the Reading so I wouldn't have any trouble changing my choice for the '73 Green Machine Green especially if it's more accurate. If 5316 is the color the guys at Norfolk Southern pulled off one of their surviving Reading units for use on #1067 and even though it may not be correct for that particular paint scheme, then chances are pretty darn good that's what it is. LOL

At the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, the blue paint on Conrail #2233 best matches WE5802 from the fan deck. If I plug that color into a dual chip match with the Katy green, 6202 is the front-runner there.

Since all the references to the Katy's green being a John Deere green cannot be further ignored, I ordered in some Van Sickle Ag Green just to see if JD 262 Green and 6202 aren't the same color. I also have a can of the pre-1952 Oliver Medium Green coming since that one should be 1317.

I'll get back to this one after I spray a couple more of those old posts...

Backtracking now a bit, the Cascade Green card from the NPRHS set perfectly matches WE5758 Green from the fan deck. The two reefer yellows included fall right in with DuPont 6808 and 1226 Diamond Yellow.

I found the Charles Uebele book while searching for information on Toluidine Red. What initially peaked my interest there was scarlet red chromate and the caboose reds derived from it along with other red pigments...

https://chestofbooks.com/home-improveme ... n-Oil.html

The "R" in DuPont paint number suffixes apparently indicates a bleeder color.

Okay, those cab models at the RRMPA seemed to have to most accurate paint out of everything Reading on display there so for now, unless anyone can tell me differently, I'll assume they were commissioned by the railroad itself as part of some past public relations endeavor. Not only do the exterior colors appear absolutely accurate, but the interior gray in the two diesels looks just like the gray the Reading used on most of their covered hoppers. A return visit is definitely being planned.

I lightened up the pic just a bit so you guys can see the Brewster Green better on the #860 Trainmaster cab model...

The green applied to M.U. #800 appeared to have a bit of a grayish cast in comparison, more like a Pullman color. WE5780 is the fan deck card on the left, Brewster Green is in the middle, and UPS Brown is to the right...

Here's the UPS Brown card up against both the Western Maryland executive car #203 and the Lotus Club Pullman. The 4558 color appears just slightly lighter on camera but it was harder to tell them apart at the museum...

Me, Pennsy sheet metal, and WE5780. I don't know why it looks like I have two index fingers on my right hand because the last time I counted it with the index finger on my left hand, there was only one. LOL

And finally for this little series, if anyone's thinking about doing a replica of the replica of the John Bull, that color is an extremely close match for Mack Truck Green...

There it is, 5248 Yellow and 5316 Green, and I didn't even have to adjust the picture or the chips this time around...

5316 on the Reading, 6202 on the Katy, and 5800 on the Southern for the seventies-era greens, it all makes total sense to me now.

SW-1001 #2622 here looks very much like the fencepost I painted, especially from a distance in the reddish sun we've had lately...

Waiting for my spray bombs to show up, I noticed the Canadian National's green is missing from the list. WE5751 appears to match Dodge Truck Judson Green so I'm totally unsure about this one...

Initially, I thought that color might be the equivalent of Bell Telephone Green, WE5605, but its Martin-Senour chip scans more into a brown. I think I'll save this one for later for when I want to try burning myself again. LOL

I did grab another 1972 Chevrolet Truck Fleet Special Colors fan deck just so I can take one apart for scans and still reassemble it correctly. I'll also use it as part of a little paint matching kit I'm putting together for field trips. PaintRef does have the whole 1972 Chevy fleet list up on their website now although it's not completely completed...

http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedi ... 72&rows=50

Anyway, I'm planning another trip down to the museum at Strasburg in order to take a look at those Reading cab model displays again and verify what I saw there. I also want to see how the Pullman Green from the NPRHS set matches up with the Pullman colors on location.

I haven't forgotten about the Great Northern and since I have nothing better to post at the moment, here's an interesting photographic result of a color match I had downloaded earlier...
