I am sorry to report that Christopher (Chris) Chestnut passed away last night, 2 April 2020, due to long term, multi-year deterioration in his lungs. It is not believed to be Corona-virus related.

Chris was a life long resident of Ellington, Connecticut and the driving force behind many restoration projects at the Connecticut Trolley Museum, and well known at many other New England preservation locations. Chris graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University, and worked at various manufacturing firms in Connecticut. He later returned to school for a Civil Engineering degree, and continued to work in various engineering fields in central Connecticut.

I met Chris in approximately 1988-89 when a student at Trinity College, Hartford. I became active at the Connecticut Trolley Museum and worked extensively with Chris on multiple projects. My future wife introduced Chris to his future wife, and we both participated in their wedding. Chris was later the Best Man at our wedding.

Chris is survived by his ex-wife and three children. Due to the Covid-19 situation, there are no funeral events planned.

May he rest in peace, and be remembered by us all as he should be.
