Anyone happen to know what was being moved by flatbed south on Rt 37C (Maple Street) in Massena NY earlier this afternoon? I only caught a very brief look when I stumbled across it coming the opposite direction doing 30mph. I didn't realize it was anything special until I was almost on top of it, so not sure of any details like any names on it. Definitely is in unrestored condition. |

It is the Lynnewood, a 1917-Pullman private car built for the Widener Family of Philadelphia. It is making its trek from Amqui, Quebec, to Boyertown, Pennsylvania, to a new home on Colebrookdale Railroad.

This website has some photos of the exterior and interior shortly after the car arrived in Amqui, QC http://cprr.org/Museum/Ephemera/Pullman_LYNNEWOOD_4714.html This short website (without photos) states that the car was later owned by the C&O before being purchased by the Quebec North Shore & Labrador Railway in 1952 and by by Gaspe Rail in 2002. https://blog.traingeek.ca/2009/06/lynnewood.html Joseph E.
