Recently, the Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum in western Massachusetts debuted an oral history series branded "Tuesdays with Pete." The mini-documentary, broken into 10-minute episodes that air on the last Tuesday of the month, focuses on the career of former New Haven Railroad engineer Pete McLachlan. For those in the region, Pete is sort of the "Forrest Gump" of southern New England railroading, being in the right place at the right time for a number of "lasts." In 1971, when passenger service ended between Danbury, CT and Pittsfield, MA, Pete was the subject of the documentary "Last Train to Pittsfield." His animated storytelling brings alive a somewhat lost era of branchline railroading. Here is the link to the first episode: https://youtu.be/b43JUPHlB7g
